When you think of fall, you think of the perfect pairing: Pretzels & Beer. In counting down the days until our Oktoberfest Celebrations, we knew we had to do something big. Enter: Wheelhaus Dunkel in collaboration with our friends at Eastern Standard Provisions, the best soft pretzel makers in town! Crafted with their soft pretzels thrown into the brew, this is the ideal Octoberfest beer. 

On coming up with the recipe, Jacobi Reid, a brewer at our Boston Brewery, said: 

“As we started to think about this brew, we looked at our classics. We’ve long served Eastern Standard Pretzels at our taprooms and Dunkels are a favorite fall style for our beer garden season among our brewing team. Pretzels have that crusty, toasty and nutty flavor, the same sort of flavor profile you look for in a Dunkel, so we add them in to pump up the bready notes to this lager and salt to add some contrast that brightens the beer up.” 

Wheelhaus Dunkel, a 5.5% dark German lager, will be available at our Boston Brewery and Downtown Taproom in cans and on draft starting September 21st.
